11 A que ville

Antoine Busnoys (1430-1492)

A que ville est abhominable
Est en amours ung cue[ur] publicque
Il nest chose plus detestable

Car le traictie est reprouchable
A decevoir ch[asc]un saplicque

A que ville . . .

Ma dame en a ung miserable
Qui est tout tel en sa pratique
Dont elle [est] moult vituperable

A que ville . . .

Oh how vile and abominable
is, in love, a public heart.
There is nothing more detestable,

because the behavior is reproachable.
She applies herself to deceive everyone.

Oh how vile and abominable . . .

My lady has such a miserable (heart),
which is wholly so in her practice,
that she is most vituperative.

Oh how vile and abominable . . .
