It is not always easy to approach the late medieval repertoire with the freshness and spontaneity to guarantee a gratifying listening experience. The voice of Sylvia Rhyne has a delightful sweetness in this repertoire. Her timbre being very well suited to the chansons of Dufay, Binchois, Robert Morton, etc. and both her solo per- formances accompanied on the lute by Eric Redlinger as well as those in which Redlinger accompanies her in a vocal duo reveal a profound knowledge of the repertoire.
